Snorrastaðir Campsite - Open all year round

Nestled at the gateway to Snæfellsnes, Snorrastaðir campsite offers a peaceful stay surrounded by lava fields, open skies, and stunning views of Snæfellsjökull glacier on the way down to the site. The trail to the striking Eldborg crater begins close to the campsite, making it ideal for hikers and nature lovers.

Facilities include toilets, showers, and a shared common area with Wi-Fi, seating, and a basic kitchen (guests should bring their own utensils).
The campsite has two zones:
Zone A - without electricity
Zone B - with the possibility of electricity (Temporary closed from 10th of April 2026 due to muddy grounds after winter weather)

Please select electricity when booking, as availability is limited.

Solar Eclipse 2026 Campers!

Join us for this once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse experience. Set in a stunning natural environment, you can enjoy food, drinks, and special treats on site while taking in the breathtaking surroundings and the eclipse overhead. The Zone you have to select to book a camping spot for the Solar Eclipse is marked "Solar Eclipse 2026". Please note that electricity and cooking facilities won’t be available. Vehicle placements and other details will be shared a few days before arrival or on site. Immerse yourself in this unique, high-demand event and soak up the unforgettable atmosphere with fellow eclipse watchers!

Eldborg Campsite – Your Base in West Iceland - Open all year round

Eldborg Campsite is ideally located at Snorrastaðir just off Highway 54, the main road between Borgarnes and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula—only 38 km from Borgarnes. It offers a peaceful and scenic place to stay, surrounded by wide-open landscapes and incredible views of Snæfellsjökull glacier.

The campsite lies at the starting point of the hiking trail to Eldborg, a striking volcanic crater, and serves as a great hub for exploring nearby highlights like Snæfellsnes, Dalir, and Borgarnes. Whether you're here to hike, road trip, or relax in nature, Snorrastaðir offers the perfect setting.

Guests have access to clean toilets and showers, as well as a shared common space with Wi-Fi, seating, and a simple kitchen. Please note: 1. September - 1. June the big common area is closed but guests have access to a smaller kitchen area.

The campsite does not have designated pitches, only the two different zones:
