Campsite Description
The Varmaland campsite lies just outside the village, near the geothermal area of Stafholtstungur, on a small peninsula between the rivers Hvítá and Norðurá. It’s a spacious and peaceful site, ideal for families, with open areas, playground equipment, and space for outdoor games. A short hike up the rocky hill above the site offers beautiful views over the surrounding landscape and the Borgarfjörður region.

Only 400 meters from the campsite is Hotel Varmaland, where guests can enjoy a high-quality restaurant, a lounge bar, and a large terrace. Right next to the campsite is a the public swimming pool, open during the summer months.

Hiking trails start nearby, making it easy to explore the area on foot. The town of Borgarnes is close by and provides access to supermarkets, shops, fuel, and other services.

Varmaland is a family-focused campsite, and guests are expected to respect the peaceful environment. Driving within the campsite is to be kept to a minimum.

The minimum age to stay at the campsite is 25 years.
